The murmured statement of his current company took him be surprise, he thought that he would have been the only one to think that way, the fact that somebody else also found it interesting, he felt accepted. “They are.” Minhyun whispered softly to the other lad indirectly. Just as those two words escaped his mouth, he looked back into his book, paying attention word after word though it was strange how another person is sitting in his company. It felt all too strange, he wasn’t used to this.
“Pity that we’re in the minority,” he sighed, pursing his lips as he thought of the narrow minded wizards he had met before. His eyes were still reading the printed words but his attention was diverted elsewhere. Daehyun found it odd — usually he could concentrate on reading no matter the distractions but perhaps having encountered a fellow housemate who seemed to share his interests in muggle books proved to be far more interesting than the book he was reading. “Jung Daehyun,” the blonde muttered, finding it awkward that he was the one who introduced first. Usually others had to approach him and introduce themselves to get him talking but at the current situation, he was the one trying to start a conversation.
(/ takes the notebook slowly and returns his smile and watches him as he opens the sketchbook) That was a few years ago I think…(/ she begins her explanation as she looks up and stares into the distance, recalling her memories) On my birthday, I received this sketchbook from my mother. (/ suddenly chuckles to herself) I remember I was so excited that I climbed onto the roof of my house and started drawing immediately- I was too stubborn and didn’t get down until I had finished…(/ grins at you before turning her attention to your notebook) What do you write in here?
{` hums in response, admiring the drawing } wow, you were already this good when you were that age . . i’m sure this sketchbook will show how much you’ve grown as an artist. {` remarks wistfully, flipping the pages } how long did it take you to finish it? {` chuckles at your memory, a pang of envy hits him when you talk about your mother but he brushes it off } i write stuff i encounter. people, things, feelings. sometimes stories.
(/ hesitates momentarily whilst looking at the curious boy) Ah…a writer (/ nods in response before considering his request. She’d never shown all of her drawing to someone before- but she decided to make an exception this time) Well, okay- but only a few drawings if you must (/ slowly hands over her sketchbook to you)
{` nods again } mhm. {` carefully accepts the sketchbook offered to him with a small smile on his face } in return, you can read the stuff i’ve written so far . . {` offers shyly as he flips open the cover page of the sketchbook slowly, his eyes taking in the sight of a beautifully sketched scenery } where is this? {` his fingertips grazes the lead printed on the rough paper }
Minhyun jumped slightly at the voice coming next to him, it startled him a lot. Not a lot of people would be seen talking to him actually, he prefers it that way but for this random student to pop in and say something, it shocked the life out of him. “Yes, you’ve got a problem with it?” his eyes looked away from the book, making contact with his current company. Silently he studied the lad. His looks are pretty much average, as average as it gets in Hogwarts that is, and he too is a fellow Ravenclaw, it seems.
Shaking his head silently at the other’s retort, he was slightly amused by the accusatory tone evident in the male’s voice. He had a right to be offended, Daehyun mused. “Muggle books are fascinating,” he murmured, opening the book he had chosen to read this time around. Ignoring the fact that his tablemate was staring at him, he began reading, eager to delve himself into the world of fiction and muggle hypothesis. He made mental notes along the way, trying to remember the ideas and quotes that striked him as brilliant for future writing purposes.
{` sighs as he taps his foot patiently against the floor, waiting for the hufflepuff friend of his to exit the basement. his luggage were already stacked neatly besides him, all ready for the hawaii trip. it striked him as luck that he was put into the same team as one of his good friends } where is that fucker. {` swears to himself as his impatience gets the best of him, an annoyed facial expression gracing his usually blank face }
The classes has ended, the students are frolicking around whether they run around the school building, having some tea with their peers, simply chatting or making mischief, everyone is doing something and with some one.
All except one. All with the exception of one Hwang Minhyun.
He is spending his time in the library, burying his nose in a book. A fairy tale book written by muggles. It was complete nonsense but he doesn’t show any sign of putting the book down.
Muggles are just an interesting subject, not that he would actually work in the study of muggles. No, there’s more than that for the lad. Yet there he is, sitting all by himself in the huge library with a book exactly like the loner he is.
Brushing the tips of his fingers along the spines of the old dusty books that filled the bookshelves, his eyes scanned for an interesting read. Ticking off the boring titles mentally in his head one by one, he halted to a stop at a familiar title. “What’s a muggle book like you doing in the potions section?” he murmured to no one in particular. He reached out for the book and quickly retrieved it from the shelf. Now his next hurdle was to find a spot to sit. Daehyun took a moment to contemplate the very serious manner before deciding to sit down at a table that only had one occupant. As he settled himself down onto his new reading spot, he spotted the other reading a muggle fairytale. “Fairy tales?” the Ravenclaw piqued curiously, it wasn’t every day you encounter a wizard in Hogwarts reading a muggle fairy tale.
(/ shuffling slightly over to give the boy more space while silently observing him and his actions before she decided she could use a nice conversation which was also, the first since she arrived) Yes, I draw whenever I have time- (/ she smiles to herself as she glances back at her nearly full sketchbook) Do you? (/ she inquires before questions started to form in her head- she barely knew anything about where she was since she was new)
{` purses his lips as he looks at your sketchbook curiously, nodding slowly at your question } i do. i prefer writing but sketching is quite a nice hobby. {` a rare soft smile appears on his normally blank face; biting his lips as he stares at the nearly filled to the brim book } can i . . ? {` blinks as he motioned towards the book }
(/Jia suddenly feels a presence making its way towards her and sitting himself down on the bench next to her.) Ah, so it’s not completely deserted here…(/she thinks to herself, slightly annoyed of the interruption but nevertheless finishes off the detail she is currently working on before she lifts her head to greet the stranger with a smile) Ah…hello there
{` nods back in response, before deciding to at least be friendly with the girl whose privacy he had invaded for the sake of his own selfish reasons } hello. you draw? {` asks politely, noting that she was in the same house as he was; shuffling the items he had been carrying in his arms about the bench, eager to start writing }
